How do you like your Biltong?

Inline Image

If you were to take a step back in time – a big enough step to put you back into the place you grew up in – South Africa or Zimbabwe or even, dare I say it, Rhodesia, what would the biltong you loved have looked and tasted like ? Where would you have bought it ?

These are the questions we at Biltong Direct are always asking ourselves – why ? because that is how we want to sell it. We want you to enjoy biltong as it was back home. Did you ever buy biltong in vacuum sealed packets, 7 small slices for £1.99, no sign of any seasoning on the meat or in the packet ? A customer brought us a packet of locally sourced biltong last week – granted it had a shelf life of almost a year and had been mechanically packed and sealed in an attractively printed packet but is that why you buy biltong – for it to sit in a pretty packet deteriorating for nine months before you eat it? We feel strongly that you deserve better for your money, you should be able to savour the real taste of South Africa when you eat biltong, the tastes of your youth perhaps, the taste of top quality meat spiced to perfection and supplied fresh from the factory to you just the way you remember it.

We aim to sell top quality biltong (and other products of course), selected for individual customers rather than mass produced to such an extent that you cannot tell if it is actually wet or dry, you cannot see any signs of spice and certainly no natural fat in the meat to give it that special flavour.  This is why we cut and pack your order just prior to sendng it out - so it is really fresh.  We only apply a slight vaccuum, so it stays fresh until you receive your parcel and we suggest you open it immediately.

One down-side to supplying really fresh biltong is that the demand is huge and always increasing, so no matter how much we make, we do occasionally get caught out in between batches and ask the customer to wait a day or two.  Shop customers - to avoid a wasted journey - why not give us a call and we'll keep some for you.  Please be patient if you have this problem – I can assure you it will be well worth the wait!

LOYALTY CARDS - Thanks from us to you

Our business is sustained in these difficult financial times by our loyal, regular customers. Those people who have become friends in the shop and familiar names on the internet. We have been quietly rewarding our regular internet customers with a chocolate bar or dried fruit roll and a thank you note from time to time, but we would like to do more, so we are introducing a voucher system for those people who order on-line and Loyalty Cards for our shop customers. These two ways of saying Thank You will be introduced during October and the offer will close on 31st December 2009.

For full details please read on.
